Jan de Rooij won the real rally to Dakar in 2009. The Iveco and driver Jan were on the Valkenswaard circuit once more to show the 2010 Dakar participants what real rally driving is! Jan looked straight in my camera as shown here at a jump.

The other Rally Ginaf X2222 of Ginaf Rally Power is driven by Marcel van Vliet. The number 502 driver is a regular Dakar driver already. He used to start with truckraces and later in le Dakar. Now he and his teammates go for the second time to Argentina!

The Ginaf of mister GINAF himself with the big CAT power and the typical axles configuration. This number 501 will be a serious candidate for the first in classement of the 2010 Dakar rally....in Argentinia again.

Jan de Rooy Winner of the first Africa Race 2009
Congratulations Jan!!! With the Iveco Trakker he did it again. Today January 11 2009 Jan de Rooy has won the Dakar rally again. In 1982 he won the rally with a Daf NAT2800, in 1985 with The Bull, a DAF 3300 and in 1987 with the Turbo Twin II a 1000hp 3600 DAF. After a period of disaster in 1988 when DAF and De Rooy lost one of the crew members in the terrible accident De Rooy stopped racing. In the 90s he again was willing to teach his son Gerard how to drive a rally to Dakar. Since that time it never happened to be a real succes, but now, when the son Gerard is driving the rally in Argentia to number one position, Jan wins the Africa Race to the real Dakar! Fantastic. Another great aspect is that Hans Bekx and Jan de Rooy decided to work together in one team and they are really the winning team, since Hans Bekx has the second place overall. Again congratulations. Hopefully son Gerard can make it next week in Argentina. History is made again.

Jan de Rooij, Succes!!!
It is great to have Jan de Rooij in 2009 back in the real Dakar rally. I wish you all the best and hope to see you and your team as the winners of 2009!!! Since 1982 I admire the adventures and trucks from The Netherlands in the world's heaviest and most dangerous rally: Le Dakar. Ofcourse team De Rooij is than the legend number 1.
Thanks Jan for the possibility to make this picture of you and The Bull in Valkenswaard last weekend!
